- Description
This wine is sourced from a tiny 0.39 hectare plot on the Ashton Hills estate, where Stephen George planted eight rows of riesling in 1982. From these 1032 vines a small-batch wine is produced – very limited in availability, but remarkable for its distinct and unique expression of variety and site.
- Bouquet
Lemon zest, while florals, fresh lime juice and a hint of Granny Smith apple.
- Palate
An abundance of citrus flavours are dominant, with the fresh zippy acidity providing a pure, clean finish. Touches of bath salt leave a textural phenolic grip balanced beautifully by a small amount of residual sweetness.
- Growing Conditions
For the second year in a row, the Piccadilly Valley growing season resulted in reduced yields. The long, cool, wet winter pushed into December effecting flowering. A cooler than average start to the year meant the small bunches and berries did not ripen until April.
- Food Pairing
Spicy soft shell crab with a lime and chilli dressing.
